Remembrance Service
11th November 2015 @ 10:30 am - 11:15 am
Once again we are marking Armistice Day with a Remembrance Service in the grounds of the Auld Kirk starting at 10.30 on 11th November. Children from the Primary School will be reading out all the names of those commemorated on the main War Memorial and planting a small wooden cross for each man killed. The service will be led by Rev Macdonald, along with Piper Harry Ellis and Bugler Robert Jamieson. Donald Reid will be reciting those evocative war poems ‘In Flanders Field’ and ‘Young Fellow My Lad’. Last year it was very moving watching the children plant over 170 crosses for those townsfolk killed in World War 1. Everyone is very welcome to attend and lay their own crosses after the service.
