Ceremony of re-dedication of Beith Townhouse

22nd May 2017 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Free

On 22nd May to mark 200 years since the foundation stone was laid we are holding a ceremony of re-dedication. A procession led by the Halberdier, Jim McCartan, will leave the Community Garden in Mitchell Street at 10.45 and will parade to the Townhouse via Main street and the Auld Kirk. The procession will include committee members in Regency costume as well as children from Beith Primary School. The Halberdier will be ringing the bell used by Beith’s Bellman historically as the group walks through the town.

A short service will be held at the Townhouse with a prayer of re-dedication read by Fiona Blair, Associate Minister at Beith Parish Church, and a short talk on the history of the Townhouse by BCHS’s Honorary President Allan Richardson.

A display highlighting the Townhouse’s history will be on show upstairs. All are very welcome to attend and help us celebrate such a momentous event!
