The Garnock Valley Family History Group was formed in 2012 with the aim of encouraging and supporting family history research in the town of Beith, Kilbirnie and Dalry and surrounding area. Membership is open to anyone in the area who is interested in family history or genealogy, or who is researching ancestors from this part of North Ayrshire. The group is based at Beith Townhouse as a sub group of Beith Cultural & Heritage Society. Since its formation the group has been working on a project to research all the local men and women who served in one of the two World Wars, and also holding various events to commemorate the centenary of World War One. In 2015 they began holding monthly talks on a family history theme. These are open to anyone, with a small charge being made for non members.
