Next year Beith Townhouse will be 200 years old. We are planning a whole range of events and activities starting on 22nd May when the foundation stone was laid. If you’ve got a few hours to spare each month this is a great time to get involved. You don’t need to have any knowledge of local history. Some of our volunteers are busy researching the history of the Townhouse and life in Beith in 1817. So we have lots of old documents we would like to transcribe such as details of the residents of the town who paid the clock and watch tax in 1797. A great chance to try your skills at deciphering old handwriting! And if that sounds too hard how about reading old copies of the ‘Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald’? We also could do with more volunteers to help at fundraising events or help staff the Townhouse during opening hours. If you would like to get involved pop in to the Townhouse or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
